A return from the grave
Hello, hello, to those friends of mine who may still check this site, despite my month and a half long hiatus. It is not a dead blog yet, despite appearances.
What have I been doing with all of my home computer-less time? Well, training for the Chicago marathon, starting to read a lot of books and not finishing them, reveling in once again being in a city where I can pick up a hard copy of the Onion, hanging out in the coffee shop where my boyfriend worked until recently, watching Cubs games (in person and on TV), going to the beach and other blissfully relaxing activities.
Well, the marathon training is enjoyable, but not necessarily relaxing. Having never run more than 5 miles in a row prior to this, I had no idea how time-consuming of a project getting one's body in shape to run 26.2 miles is. My schedule revolves around fitting in 6 miles here, 12 miles there. I even had to ask my boss to shift my work schedule around so I would have one morning off a week to get in my medium length (6-10 mile) mid-week runs. Weekends are tricky, because running the morning after a few very dehydrating rounds of beer doesn't work very well. I'll be doing the half-marathon two weekends from now to get some practice running in a big crowd, which should be an interesting experience. I mean, the Lakeshore running path is pretty busy on Sunday mornings, but this will be a little different.
