I went to my cousin Michelle's wedding this weekend. They had a nice ceremony at a country church in middle of nowhere Michigan. I haven't driven past so many dairy farms, sod farms, buffalo farms and hog farms in years. The smell really gets you in the mood to contemplate God and committment and things like that.
When I was a little girl weddings seemed like magical events that just happened out of thin air, and all you had to do was show up, throw rice, and then go eat cake and dance. Now that I'm older and have attended a few more, I've noticed that while all weddings are special, particularly when you care about the couple involved, they can start to run together. This one will probably stick out in my memory though for a few reasons.
1. The bride and groom were both 20 years old and unable to legally drink at their own wedding reception.
2. The reception was technically dry, but that didn't stop a few of my cousins from loading the trunks of their cars with beer. I sat in someone's Buick listening to an 80's radio station, drinking Labatt's while it rained. Classy, no. Hilarious, yes.
