Talking with strangers
While Beryl, Kelly and I were knitting in the third floor lounge area during lunch yesterday, a woman came up to ask us about our projects, then proceeded to talk to us for the next forty minutes or so. She was a really cute, peppy lady wearing a tracksuit who didn't look her 69 years. She has been at the hospital every day this week for a new kind of breast cancer treatment, which she told us about in detail. We also discussed midwives, Michigan Avenue, and various Chicago neighborhoods.
Last night at Standees, the guy at the next booth over struck up a conversation with Lindsay and I. He tried to outdo us with his jukebox selections, and made jokes about the superiority of his alma mater over ours, but was fun to talk to anyway.
