My parents visited me this weekend. Although I visit them in Michigan pretty frequently, they hadn't been to Chicago in about a year, so we spent a lot of time out and about. We went to a few places around my neighborhood: Kopi Cafe, Charlie's, and Too Much Light (which they loved, despite being the oldest people in the audience by about 20 years). Mom always enjoys the windows at Marshall Fields on State Street, so we went down there for some window gaping and some shopping. Dad got a manicure while Mom and I looked for a Christmas present for Grandma V. It kept him occupied for a good half an hour (he isn't much of a shopper), and he was pleased with the results. Except for the coat of clear polish. Dad: "She said it was protein and that it would sink in." Mom: "Your Dad is the original metrosexual. It's the influence of all those sisters."
We wandered over to Millennium Park, and drank a few beers at the Billy Goat Tavern. Overall a good weekend for everyone, the tour guide andthe visitors.
