From There’s a Method to the Mess in the NY Times

"Minimalism is easy to copy," Ms. de Lorme said at her unabashedly messy desk on a recent morning. "Everybody can do it."

“Things (and people) look best if they are touched regularly!" Ilse Crawford

If you’ve seen my apartment you know that I’m no minimalist. Plants fill the front window, chairs compete for space around the red table, the bookshelves are filled to capacity, and random assortments of things that I like cover the walls. I find it comfortable and comforting to be surrounded by colors, shapes, and words that I have selected and placed around me. The plants and the dog keep things interesting--the plants (the viney ones at least) by growing and changing the way they use their space in the window, and the dog by nudging furniture and objects around. At some point clutter does drive me crazy, but I prefer it to a neat, sterile environment.

Comments:
When you have clutter, you know where everything is! When I put things away, I have no idea where they are. This is why my fridge crispers are empty. Always! Food in there, it disappears.
