Myopic eyes on the prize

Steven told me today about a conversation he with a good friend of his who is a lawyer. He asked his friend why people go so crazy in law school about things like getting top grades and other honors.

"Well, why does a mouse in a maze chase after cheese?"

"Because the mouse likes cheese?"

"No, because it's the only thing in the maze to go after."

I suppose it is important to keep some perspective when it comes to all of this school stuff. Its true that in a few years I'm not going to care about the grades I got in school, but the fact remains that where I land after school will depend partly on how I did in school. Especially since my mommy and daddy and their friends aren't Chicago lawyers. I have to make my own luck.

Luck is the residue of design. I hear your pain, but just keep fighting.
