Chipotle facts

Before heading out for lunch today I decided to take a look at the nutrition info for a place that I eat at a few times a week.

You'll need a calculator or scratch paper, for this, but go ahead, check out the calorie content of your Chipotle order.

I was surprised to find that the tortilla for the burrito (weighing in at 300 calories) has more calories than the chicken that I often get (219). That is, if their serving sizes are accurate. I think I'll be switching to a bowl (avoid the tortilla), away from corn salsa (100 calories) to red tomatillo (28). I might skip the chicken occasionally (219), and go for the fajita vegetables (100).

I'm not on a diet, but it can't hurt to eat a little healthier, can it?

Comments:
You also should look at where most of the calories come from. In the chicken it's mostly protein, which is good for you, as opposed to the tortilla that is mostly carbs, which is worse for you. I always like to have meat in there for the protein. I also always get the bowl, I think it tastes better. They also have low fat sour cream that you have to ask for.

Eh, everything in moderation is what I'm really going for. Carbs aren't evil, and protein laden with fat isn't always good for you. Chipotle's meat isn't lowfat.

And no, I don't think I ever at at Anna's in Boston. Alas, alas.
