I want to speak with my Mom, I mean my lawyer

Would having a mother who is a criminal procedure professor and a former public defender make you more or less likely to engage in criminal activity if you were a teenage boy? My crim pro prof keeps telling us the advice that she gives her sons about what to do and not do, what the cops can do and what they shouldn't, and it made me wonder. On the one hand, they should know better, on the other hand, if they were caught doing something they know they'd have a good attorney.
