It's okay for design to matter

During the school year I spend my weekdays in classrooms, libraries, el cars, Loop lunch joints, an office, the student lounge, elevators, parks, el stations and on the sidewalks of Chicago. And...my apartment. Some of these places are lovely, some are smelly and dirty, others are just kind of there. The one place out of all of these that I can really count on to be a refuge is my apartment. My two roommates and I share a spacious apartment that we are turning into a beautiful and cozy home. While renters on student budgets are limited in a number of ways, we're doing a good job with what we've got. There's always more to be done though, and I'm always looking for ideas. I've been really inspired lately by a number of designers and design blogs. Here are a few of my recent favorites: Desire to Inspire, Design*Sponge, Poppytalk, Apartment Therapy Chicago.
