Attempt a random winter sport: check

While on a hike this fall, a few friends of mine started talking about the traditional Scottish, now Olympic sport of curling. We joked that we should find a place to try it out this coming winter, and perhaps taking things too seriously, I did some research and found the Chicago Curling Club the following week. We signed up for a lesson, and a few months later, we were out on the ice with stones, brooms, and sliders, making fools of ourselves. (A few photos are here.)

Now that I've tried this, I want to find and try other obscure winter sports. Any recommendations?
