My roommate Tiffaney and I are going to babysit some woman's cat for three months. I don't know quite how Tiff knows her, but she seems nice, works for the Trib, and unfortunately seems to be allergic to her 9 year old cat. Her doctor told her to stay away from the cat for three months to be sure that it's the cat and not something else that's bugging her.
Sunny, our new houseguest, was hiding underneath an armchair in the computer room, growling and hissing, for about an hour before Tiffaney decided to introduce her to her litter box in the sun room to avoid a mess. I lifted up one end of the chair and Tiff approached it wearing thick gloves and holding a towel. When she finally got a hold of a very angry, fluffy mass of cat, it yowled so loud that we both jumped. She held her in the towel and we raced to the sun room and released her. Sunny will probably stay in that room for the next three months, hiding behind the treadmill and the recycling, nibbling on my fern.
My dog Henry is curious about the new addition, but I'm not sure if he'll end up with a playmate or just a scratched face.
