The unadultered joys of applying to law school
I've been saying that I'm working on my law school applications for months now.
Friend/relative: What have you been up to lately Eliina?
Me: Oh, you know, working on my law school applications. (read: thinking about working on them, making piles of application materials and law school viewbooks, moving the piles around my room, cleaning my room)
During the past few weeks I've actually been putting work into them, doing the task that I dread the most: writing personal statements. I don't suffer from particularly low self-esteem, and the fact that I keep a personal weblog shows that I have enough ego to believe that others actually care to read about my thougths and activities. However, it takes a lot of effort for me to do something like go on a job interview, because it feels unnatural to sit there and talk about how great I am. The personal statement falls into the same uncomfortable category. Fortunately a few of my friends are fantastic editors, and getting their input is making it a bit more bearable.
