Sniff test
When it comes to doing laundry, I'm a big advocate of the sniff test. A sniff can tell me if I actually wore an item of clothing or if i just tried it on and then threw it on the floor. It can also tell me where I wore something. Blue t-shirt, hmm, *sniff*, wore that to the diner yesterday. Red hoodie, *sniff*, wore that to a bar.

We have a washer and dryer in the basement of our two-flat, that the roommates and I and at least one of the guys upstairs all use. There is almost always a load sitting in the dryer, so when I have to use it I empty the previous users stuff into a basket. When I was removing one of the guys' clothes recently there were no empty baskets available, and I saw a half-full basket of dry clothes sitting near the dryer, and thought, hmm, maybe those are the rest of his clean clothes. I stupidly picked up a sock (a sock of all the things to check), *sniff*, *gag*, *retch*, *throw the sock across the room.* No, it was not a clean basket of clothes. The sniff test will now only be applied only to my own stuff.

Comments:
that will teach ya! i do the sniff test too... although i DO keep it restricted to my own clothes.

now im going to be paranoid about people sniffing my clothes in the laundry room! ha!
