Beautiful weekend, dull Monday
It's a dreary morning here in Chicago. My office is on the 20th floor of our building, and the windows by the elevators face the Hancock Building and the lake. The lake and the sky are the same shade of grey, and the top of the Hancock is obscured by clouds, so the view isn't all that it could be.
This past weekend however, was anything but dreary. The weather was beautiful, and the company good. I caught up with some random former CRCers on Friday night, including Laz and Kim. We witnessed a bar fight that involved blood and the smashing of bottles over heads, which was a first for me.
Saturday was gorgeous, and the pup and I spent several hours at Hollywood Beach, Foster Beach, and the park areas that lie in between. I lost my cell phone, which was a bummer. Thats what I get for bragging recently that I've been using the same one for the past 2 1/2 years. It made coordinating evening plans a bit difficult but Lindsay and I managed to make it to the Archer Prewitt show at the Empty Bottle anyway.
After I got a new phone on Sunday I learned that a kid had found my phone at the park that morning and his dad had called Amanda to let her know, but she of course had no way to reach me. I had already consoled myself with a trip to Myopic Books and Nina, that newish yarn store on Division that everyone at my Stitch n' Bitch group has been talking about, so I decided to just be happy that I at least had my old phone to transfer numbers from.
I feel like this is going to be a calm week for some reason, perhaps because rainy weather can be soothing, not just depressing.
