Home update It's only been a few weeks since I moved into the new apartment and new neighborhood, but I feel like I'm getting to know the neighborhood pretty well. There aren't as many businesses near by, no more sushi place around the corner, or fruit market three minutes away (those places are now fifteen minutes away, alas), but there are prettier streets and friendlier people. A nice place to relax for the summer. Not surprisingly I've met many of the dogs and dog owners in the neighborhood. Yesterday at 6am while stumbling around the block with Henry I met one of my next door neighbhors. "Is he friendly?" she shouted from down the block. "Yes, very. Yours?" "Oh yes, Angel is friendly. He isn't part border collie is he? Border collies like to herd her and push her over onto her back. They think she's a sheep."
About twelve hours later while out for an after-work walk, we met Raoul, the owner of a cute brown bungalow and a long-haired chihuahua named Coco. He shared all sorts of neighborhood gossip---told stories about a mean dog in the neighborhood that was put to sleep a few weeks ago after killing someone's dog, explained that the guy zigzagging back and forth while walking down the sidewalk was nicknamed "the walker"and that he was harmless, and told me whose garden had won best small garden in the city of Chicago.
