Car rides are funny
If you’ve ever been a passenger in my car, you know that it is a place where many emotions are expressed including infinite patience, love of other drivers, and joy when finding parking is a particular challenge.
I try to avoid driving when possible, but a car is useful for transporting say air conditioners, plywood, large bags of tulips, or frozen stuff from Trader Joes that might not survive half an hour in the backpack on a hot day.
On several recent occasions, a passenger has said:
“I’m like Tinkerbell. Every time you complain I die a little inside.”
and
“I’m going to start calling you Bitchy Longstockings when you’re in the car.”
Humor wins. We laugh, we all feel better, and I feel grateful to have someone around who says that kind of stuff.
