This is why I love them
On Tuesday evening I grabbed a seat at our usual table, ordered a beer and started knitting. I chatted with my fellow Stitch n’ Bitch folks about the horrors of moving, where to get good sushi, where to buy good but inexpensive wine, someone’s new girlfriend and of course, our current projects. I held out a little pink hat on double-pointed needles, (a gift for a friend who is expecting a baby in a few months) and explained that I had finished one hat but that there were a few mistakes in it and that I didn’t want to give it as a gift to a non-knitter. I pulled the finished hat out from my bag for examination.
The woman sitting next to me, an architect, looked at it and said, “What, that’s all? Knit a flower to go over that spot, or put some beads on it.”
“There are never mistakes in design.” said the graphic designer crocheting a halter top across the table. (The halter top started out as a sweater vest)
“That’s right, there are no mistakes in design.”
So I knit a little white flower last night that I think will cover my um, opportunity for creativity (since it isn’t a mistake). The finished product will be even cuter than originally planned.
