Lindsay, Steven was shocked by the extent of the deli love
Steven and I went up to Evanston for lunch today because he couldn't leave for the summer without tasting Buffalo Joe's, and I needed a break from my wretched contracts take-home exam. Afterwards, we went up to Al's Deli for cookies, where the following interaction happened.
Steven: So how many should we get? Me (to Steven): Four. Two for me, one for you, and we should get one for Lindsay. Me (to John, deli co-owner): We'll have four butter cookies. Steven: Two for you? I want two too. Me: Okay, well, we'll get five. John: We have a limit of four per group per day. Steven: Haha. Really? Well, I guess Lindsay is out of luck. Me: We just won't tell her that we came. Bob (other deli co-owner): Wait, did you say Lindsay? Me: Yes, we wanted one for Lindsay Muscato, my roommate. John: Her favorite is spice cookies. Me: Yes, but they're out of season. Bob: Does this mean Lindsay won't get a cookie? Me: Well... John: Well, then we'll have to give you one more for free. That's how we'll circumvent the four cookie rule. And say hello to her for us.
So Linz, when you get home, there's a butter cookie for you in the freezer. And Bob and John say hello.
