If you want to freak yourself out while in Budapest...
...take a metro to another metro to a city bus to a suburban bus out to Statue Park. Be sure to arrive after they've closed, although all their ads say "open until sunset." Sit across the street at the bus stop as the sun sets on all of the Communist-era statues that were removed from the city. Wait one hour and twenty minutes for your return bus to come. Watch cars pull up in front of you to let their passengers step out and pee.
If instead, you want to relax in Budapest, go to the baths. Hang out in a thermal bath the size of a large swimming pool, cool off in a cold bath, and come back. Admire (and play in) the fountains. Watch Hungarian wives get mad as their husbands ogle other women.
If you prefer, history, culture, and some steep climbs, go to the Castle District on the Buda side. Take a walking tour given by a political activist chick. Grab a gigantic hollow pastry as you walk back to the Pest side over the pedestrian bridge. Touch the knee of the lucky little princess statue. Go to a restaurant in an old wine cellar and watch dancers dance to traditional music.
Enjoy the fact that 1000 forinths = 5 US dollars.
