Garden update--the best laid plans

Well, the Tara-Eliina garden idea that we hatched (or should I say sprouted?) earlier in the spring has not gone quite as planned. There is a lovely vegetable garden out in Tara and Brendan's yard, but I haven't really done any work on it. Alas. I didn't realize how many key gardening dates would coincide with finals and graduation, nor did I realize exactly how much work studying for the bar would be. That free time I thought I would have to joyfully weed a garden and put studying out of my mind is being put to other uses. Like walking the dog, sleeping, and yes, going to the Cape for the Jons' wedding. Okay, that last one was optional but was something I'm very glad I didn't miss.

Anyway, all is not lost. First, Tara and Brendan are very capable gardeners and so I'm sure the garden will do just fine without me. Second, I did sprout some tomato and basil seeds that were intended for the garden and which we did not need, so those are hanging out in pots my back yard. Third, my landlord gave me permission to do something with large patch of dirt that runs along the sidewalk in our back yard, so I've planted flowers. Easier to maintain, no worries about the lead content of the soil, and still satisfying. I've planted several sunflower varieties, morning glories, cosmos, bells of Ireland, moonflowers and geraniums. Fun, easy, pretty.

Comments:
I staked the tomatoes this morning! (Which makes me think of Bunnicula and vampire-staking. But really I tied them to sticks with bits of a pair of old tights. Very classy.)
